Song lyrics

[Sheng Belmonte]
Napakaraming guro dito sa amin ngunit
Bakit tila walang natira
Napakaraming nurse dito sa amin
Ngunit bakit tila walang natira
Nagaabroad sila
(Gusto kong yumaman4x)
Nagaabroad sila
(Gusto kong yumaman4x)
Nagaabroad sila

[Gloc-9]
[Sheng Belmonte]
Napakaraming inhinyero dito sa amin
Ngunit bakit tila walang natira
Napakaraming karpintero dito sa amin
Ngunit bakit tila walang natira
Nagaabroad sila
(Gusto kong yumaman4x)
Nagaabroad sila
(Gusto kong yumaman4x)
Nagaabroad sila

[Gloc-9]
O barko kahit saan man papunta.
[Sheng Belmonte
Napakaraming kasambahay dito sa amin
Ngunit bakit tila walang natira
Napakaraming labandera dito sa amin
Ngunit bakit tila walang natira
Nagaabroad sila
(Gusto kong yumaman4x)
Nagaabroad sila
(Gusto kong yumaman4x)
Nagaabroad sila

[Gloc-9]
[Sheng Belmonte
Napakaraming guro dito sa amin
Ngunit bakit tila walang natira
Napakaraming nurse dito sa amin
Ngunit bakit tila walang natira
Nagaabroad sila
(Gusto kong yumaman4x)
Nagaabroad sila
(Gusto kong yumaman4x)
Napakaraming tama dito sa atin...
Ngunit bakit tila walang natira...

“There a lot of nurses here in our place but why no one’s left. They go abroad.”
“There a lot of engineers here in our place but why no one’s left. They go abroad.”
“There a lot of carpenters here in our place but why no one’s left. They go abroad.”
“There a lot of launderers here in our place but why no one’s left. They go abroad.”
“There a lot of teachers here in our place but why no one’s left. They go abroad.”
“There a lot of housemaids here in our place but why no one’s left. They go abroad.”

Universities doors to nursing freshmen are almost all closed in the country. It is because of the enormous number of Filipino nurses in the country. According to Abba Philippines, a man power agency in the country, 130, 129 nurses passed the nursing licensure examination last 2007 and 2008. If it will be compared to the number of nurses who passed the said exam from 1997-2006, which produced 123, 433, it will be undeniable that the country experienced a massive production of nurses that even the health care institutions in the Philippines could not handle. As a result, many of the Filipino nurses are left jobless and were forced to go overseas rather than remain unemployed.

In no lo long time, ironic to what happened in 2008, 2010 experienced a shortage of nurses in the country. The country considered to be one of the largest nurse feeders in the world (next to India), experienced nurse hunger.

The same thing happened to many native professionals in the Philippines. Engineers, teachers, commerce and business graduates were all given enough reasons to leave the country with hopes of brighter jobs and better lives clenched in their fists.

"Walang Natira" is Gloc 9’s first single from his 5th studio album, Talumpati. It is an advocacy song dedicated to all Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), the reason behind their courage to work miles away from their families, and what they are going through abroad just to better the lives of their families.

The song tells that the Philippines has a good manpower but this manpower is going abroad thus, bringing more advantage to other nations rather than to our own.

The song, on the other hand, also exposes some heart aches and complaints related to the OFW’s, the country and between such as:

  1. The Philippines is like a tree whose fruits have been picked out
  2. The rains are becoming strong but its umbrella is full of holes
  3. The leaders are benefiting much but the citizens are being done away with
  4. Absence of local employment, No choice but to work abroad, Filipinos are thus everywhere except in their own country, unable to stay with their families
  5. The children no longer know their fathers.
  6. The mothers are usually away during the birthdays of their children.
  7. If better days are not forthcoming, then you better think ahead.
  8. Little properties are mortgaged to leave the country to go anywhere and for whatever purpose.
O barko kahit saan man papunta.
  9. Never mind the sweat and toil, the hunger and violence, even if he or she comes back in a coffin.

All of these, caused economic rises and falls to the country. Looking at it in a big picture, the government’s abusiveness to power branched negative effects such as the hardships which are faced everyday by many Filipino workers scattered in the world.
